University of the Aegean - EGEE Enabling Grids for E-science in Europe UNIVERSITY OF THE AEGEAN Telecommunications Laboratory Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering Samos, Greece

University of the Aegean - EGEE Enabling Grids for E-science in Europe The University of the AEGEAN Major Academic Institute with extensive experience in directory services, security issues and PKI Infrastructure, network performance measurements/evaluation, active networks, web services.

University of the Aegean - EGEE Enabling Grids for E-science in Europe The role of Aegean in Activity NA5 Policy and International Cooperation University of the Aegean will contribute in the following activities: Role in standards setting through attendance by the various EGEE activity members at global standards bodies such as the Global Grid Forum Production a series of e-Infrastructure White Papers and roadmaps. Specific middleware and application components developed in both the United States of America and Russia to meet the particular needs of the EGEE user and applications communities

University of the Aegean - EGEE Enabling Grids for E-science in Europe The role of Aegean in Activity SA1 European grid Operations, Support and Management AEGEAN targets to be involved in the task concerning the Security Support and middleware deployment. It can contribute towards the following issues: Hellasgrid infrastructure security aspects – Security Support Design of a programmable grid architecture for QoS provision in multiple layers (i.e., application, middleware and networking). Deployment of appropriate generic and abstract information structures for resources representation in the middleware. Study of interoperability and interworking issues emerging from the fact that a number of various heterogeneous grid middlewares have been presented by different actors. Implementation of appropriate grid middleware emulator for testing purposes.
