The Land of Troy Sometimes it is called “Troad” but it was named for its founder, Tros. Although, oddly enough, it’s proper name is Illium, hence Homer’s _The Iliad_. The King of Troy At the time of the Trojan War the king was Priam and his wife was Hecuba. Their first son was Hector. Their second son, Paris, was given to a servant due to a dangerous prophecy.
