More information (At least 4 more facts) In 1906 he immigrated to Ottoman-controlled Palestine and became an agricultural worker, putting into practice the philosophy that was to inspire Zionists over the next four decades. He was Israel’s first prime-minister and defense minister. His dream was that there will be many Jewish settlements in the Negev. When he left politics he lived in "Kibutz Sde Boker" in the Negev. He first worked as an agricultural laborer in the orange groves, and later as a journalist. Ben Gurion was expelled from Palestine in 1915 because of his nationalist and socialist activities.
