People who are poor or oppressed come together to try to address the conditions that negatively affect their lives

A transitional home for recovering addicts in Chester - owned and run by recovering addicts.

What are other recent SDOP projects? An after-school arts program in Norristown - providing children with enrichment opportunities the schools can no longer afford, while at the same time bringing in income for underemployed artists.

What are other recent SDOP projects? A network of Philadelphia taxi drivers working together to improve working conditions, wages, and benefits.

What are other recent SDOP projects? A bike patrol of men volunteering from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. to assist the police in keeping their Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood secure.

What are other recent SDOP projects? Senior citizen immigrants from war-torn Liberia banding together to smooth a difficult transition to an alien culture.
