Overview When/where does competition take place? Held at KIN Summit, May 30-June 1, 2012 Allen Center – Evanston, IL What is the award amount? $100,000 will be split among four finalist teams Winner will be determined by votes of KIN delegates at summit Winner receives amount received through voting, plus difference Who can compete? Minimum team size of two, no maximum number At least one NU student enrolled in a degree seeking program Teams are encouraged to have a mix of students and professionals

Why you should enter? Significant financial award and recognition Mentoring from executives and VC professionals (for finalists) Opportunity to attend the KIN Global Summit and become part of a community of innovators – Max 4 people/team attend as delegates – Full team participates in presentation

The Selection Criteria Impact – People: global prosperity – Profit: financial return – Planet: environmental impact – Plans may address one or more categories of impact – Impact must be quantified using metrics chosen by the team Innovation – Creativity of Solution: solution addresses a challenge in an innovative way (WOW factor counts…) Implementation – Well-defined implementation roadmap How goals will be achieved and major obstacles overcome How progress towards ultimate goals will be monitored Proof points help – Management team: team is capable of carrying out proposed concept

Application process Executive Summary – Due Midnight February 10 o Max 3 page, covering (1) the problem, (2) the proposed solution, (3) the strategy), (4) specific social or environmental targets/goals, (5) a brief background on the team members. o Semi-finalist teams announced on February 25 o Nine teams selected to compete in semi-finals o Teams present to KIN Prize Committee on March 5-7 (15 presentation + 15 minutes Q&A) Finalists – Teams announced on March 9 o Four teams selected to compete in the final round o Each team is assigned an advisor in preparation for presentation at KIN o Conduct “dry run” with review committee week before KIN Global Summit Finals – May 30- June 1 o Poster booth of venture to be displayed and manned by the team at the KIN Global Summit o 10 minute presentation at the KIN Global Summit (full team)
