Formatting Quotes/Evidence Paraphrased Children are more able to see beneath the surface, as illustrated through the title character in the book “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint Exupery. In this book, we meet an adult who uses a special drawing to determine whether or not an individual is capable of “true understanding,” (de Saint Exupery 5). All the adults that he meets fail the test and only see the image at a surface level. It is not until he meets a childlike little alien that someone finally understands the true, deeper meaning of his drawing (de Saint Exupery 3-9).
