A prayer

Loving and Gracious God, We read in Your word That you see every sparrow who falls to earth, And count the hairs on every head. We bring to You our prayers For those caught up in the M5 crash on Friday. A prayer

We pray for those who were injured, For those whose wounds were superficial As well as for those still in hospital. We ask that You will lay Your healing hands upon them. A prayer

We pray for those suffering from shock As a result of what they have witnessed. We ask that they may receive the counselling that they need. We thank You for the courage shown By some who were victims of this accident. Give them peace of mind As they remember what they were able to do And what they were forced to leave undone. A prayer

We pray for the emergency services, Called to deal with this situation. We thank You for their heroism and commitment, And ask for protection for them. They, too, may be shocked at what they have seen, And we ask that they may have time and opportunity To come to terms with their experience. A prayer

Finally, we remember before You those who have died, Unknown to most of us, But known and loved by You. We commend them to Your care, As we also commend to You those who mourn. Wrap Your loving arms around them, And give them the assurance of Your love. A prayer

Lord of all, we consider incidents such as this, And wonder how such things can be allowed to happen. Yet we recall that Your Son Jesus lived a human life, And died for us, so that we might know ourselves to be loved. It is in this confidence that we offer our prayer In His most precious name. Amen A prayer
