Hawaii became the 50 th state of the United States on August 21,1959. Official languages: English and Hawaiian Racial and ethnic diversity Asian : 38.6% white : 22.7% African : 1.6% Native Hawaiian: 10% Hispanic:8.9% Others 23.6%

The Kilauea volcano has been erupting for 30 years. It is one of the world’s most active volcanoes. It has destroyed 187 structures and added about 500 acres land to Hawaii big island. Hawaii island is getting bigger by about 42 acres each year. Kilauea Volcano

land and Soil Land is the most important natural resource which was formed from eruptions formed from under water volcanoes. Hawaiian tremendous volcanic soil have led to successful agriculture of pineapple and sugarcane fields. The soil is rich in minerals and due to the tropical climate the state is able to produce crops and vegetables year around. Water Fresh ground water is a abundance in Hawaii reservoirs as fresh water stored underground. About 21 billion gallons of rain received per year. Hawaii relies on rain for most of its income and life. The water is used for drinking and irrigation. The stored water is also used for domestic and commercial needs.

Air Steady trade winds become an important source of energy in Hawaii as evidence wind farms appearing through-out of the state. Hawaii air is the cleanest air in the earth as it arrives in the form of trade winds. Such clean air is invaluable to scientists who study the upper atmosphere. Massive scientists installations have been built on the big island Mauna Kia and Maui’s Haleakala to take advantage of Hawaii’s pristine air. It is also useful for astronomers who look out from massive telescopes to study the sky.

Bird Nene designated the official state bird of Hawaii on May 7, 1957 It is also known as Hawaiian goose. This is the world’s rarest goose. The Nene gets its name from its soft call. It has a black head, buff cheeks and heavily furrowed neck. Its bill, legs and feet are black. The Female goose is similar to the male in coloring but slightly smaller.

Pearl Harbor and USS Arizona Memorial The USS Arizona will encourage you to contemplate the sense of sacrifice during the Pearl Harbor attack. this memorial is the mid section of sunken battle ship and offers visitors to learn about the a fateful day. It shows 23 minutes of documentary film, a short boat trip and self guided exploration of the memorial.

Waikiki Beach Waikiki is a beautiful beach with many tourist attractions in a suburb of Honolulu. It is famous for many activities like surfing, paddle boarding and canoe riding. At the end of the crescent shaped beach is the extinct volcano known as diamond head crater.

The most visited attraction in Hawaii with about a million visitors every year. This park offers a unique and close look at the worlds most active volcano Kilauea and worlds, most massive volcano Mauna Loa. Hot lava flows down the mountain side and dry lava covers the road. Honolulu is a capital and largest city of Hawaii. It is located on the southeast coast of the island of Oahu. Its name derives from the native word hono meaning “shelter” and lulu meaning “Bay”. Honolulu population is 337,256 (2010 census). It is 1500 miles(2,414km) long. Temperature ranging between 72 °f - 81°f.

The eight most important islands Maui Kauai Oahu Molokai Lanai Niihau Kahoolawe Hawaii Rest of 124 islands are in 3 Sq. miles in area. Chain of islands are in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean.

Hawaii is the longest and most isolated archipelago in the world. It is located in the central pacific ocean 2,390 miles from California and 3,850 miles from Japan. The elevation of the state of Hawaii is 3,030 feet ( 923 miles ) above sea level.

She is a female American author credited with more than 30 children books. She has won two Newbery medals for “Number the Stars” in 1990 and “The Giver” in 1994.

Bethany was born on February 8, 1990 in Lihue, Hawaii. She is an American professional surfer who survived 2003 shark attack in which her left arm was bitten off but ultimately returned to surfing. She is also known as soul surfer. She won a NSSA (Natural Helping Kid Champion) in 2005 and world junior championships in bethanyhamilton.com
