TRINTERSECTIONALITY

PROBLEM  There exists a broken community in an unhealthy environment that lacks proper, legitimized, and humanized relationships, as well as the will to fix them.

DATA  #1 Little Race/Class Interaction & Town-Gown Relations (2011 Social Media)  Off-campus activities ranked as “excellent”  38% (1993)  18% (2015)

VISION  STUDENT-CITIZENS  “Our City” / Community at Large / Global Citizens  Acknowledge our presence in Hartford  Perception - “Locals” not “Foreigners” / “Bantams” not “Classmates”  College prepares you for life - why not participate in “real” life now?

RECOMMENDATIONS (1)  “Casual Connection” with Hartford  Familiar  Potential:  Promoting awareness of options  CORQ app  Promotion in classes

RECOMMENDATIONS (2)  United World College Day  Spring “Homecoming”  ALL CULTURES (American / state specific included)  Opportunity to break perceptions / stereotypes  FOOD  Celebrating, not fetishizing cultures  Joint effort / coexistence

RECOMMENDATIONS (3)  Problem Engagement and Conflict Resolution Seminar  Once per week – ½ Credit  Suggested Collaboration Group Events  Space for hard talks / “Social Entrepreneurship”  Community Service Requirement  “36 for 36”  Engaged service  Reframe “Locals”

RECOMMENDATIONS (4) Environment and Sustainability Training Early training for recycling and sustainability lifestyle during first year orientation Transforming Trinity College into a Center for sustainability development for Hartford community through education and social-economic lenses Collaboration and Development More collaboration and communication between Trinity College and Departments of Sanitary and Energy in Hartford for progress measurement, support programs and environmental regulation

MOVING FORWARD  Deeper look at faculty / professor involvement  Revisited demographic-specific polls  Environmental-specific polls
