Symbiosis Examples Fleas live on dogs and get food from dogs. Viruses and bacteria live in the human body and can reproduce and feed off of it. Aphids.
Symbiotic Relationships A close ecological relationship between two or more different species.
Ecology Chapter 2 Section 2: Organism Interaction
SYMBIOSIS The Study Guide of Doom. Symbiosis is a: close, long-term relationship between two or more species close, long-term relationship between two.
Interactions Within an Ecosystem Interactions is an ecosystem are influenced by the fact that all organisms are trying to meet at least one of their basic.
Relationships in the Ecosystem. What are the types of relationships? 1)Predator / Prey 2)Competition 3)Symbiosis A) commensalism B) mutualism C) parasitism.
Symbiotic Relationships
How Do We Relate?. Relationships Many organisms have developed a close relationship with other organisms of different species. These close relationships.
Ecological Interactions “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” ~John Muir, naturalist, Sierra Club.
SPECIES INTERACTIONS. Community Interactions  Competition – occurs when organisms of the same or different species attempt to use an ecological resource.

Ecology. Study of the Interactions between Organisms and the Nonliving Components of their Environment Each organism Depends in some way on other living.
Interactions in ecosystems
Community Interactions. Community interactions, such as competition, predation, and various forms of symbiosis, can powerfully affect an ecosystem.
Orchids and trees Ticks and dogs Ants and acacia trees.
Symbiosis A relationship where two organisms (of different species) live together.
10 th Period Symbiosis Project Paige & Ashley. Mutualism Mutualism-where both species benefit. EXAMPLE : A bee pollinates a flower.
By: Matthew Burton.  Mutualism- when two animals or species benefit  Salt water- clown fish living in a sea anemone  Rain forest –bird eating bugs.
How Do Different Species Interact with Each Other?
Parasitism Ticks Bird infested with ticks. The ticks benefit but the bird is harmed Different types of ticks that are parasites.(Beware)
Ecological Relationships. Competition and Predation Competition – occurs when organisms of the same or different species attempt to use an ecological.
Relationships within Ecosystems The who, what, where, when, why of it all.
SYMBIOSIS NOTES. Relationships among organisms in a community: Predation  One population (predator) captures and feeds upon another population (prey)
Symbiotic Relationships.  SYMBIOSIS refers to the relationship between organisms of different species that show an intimate encounter with each other.
*Refer to Chapter 16 in your Textbook. Learning Goals: 1. I can describe interactions that occur in a community. 2. I can differentiate between the types.
Ecology. Study of the Interactions between Organisms and the Nonliving Components of their Environment.
ECOSYSTEMS ‘A World of Interactions’. Populations  What is a population?  When we talk about populations what in general do we mean?  A group of organisms.
By: Natasha Matveyuk Ecology Relationships. A symbiotic relationship is 2 organisms living in a close area together Commensalism, mutualism, and parasitism.
Symbiosis: Organisms can have close ecological relationships in ecosystems Mutualism (+,+) both organisms benefit from the relationship Remoras clean sharks.
III. Symbiosis & Predator/Prey Interaction A. Symbiosis:A relationship where one species of organisms lives near, in, or on another organism. 1. Mutualism:

By: Michael Moore and James Bouie Types of Symbiosis

Mutualism Mutualism is when both species benefits. Ex. A hummingbird drinks the nectar from a dianthus. The dianthus is going to keep on reproducing.

Commensalism Commensalism- is where 1 species benefits and the other is not affected Ex. A crab makes its home in an oyster shell. It receives shelter and grabs food.

Parasitism Parasitism- is when 1 species benefits and the other is harmed. Ex. Is a dog get ticks. They drink the blood from the dog and it can give dogs Lyme disease.

Parasitism I had to take a bunch of ticks off my hunting dogs so they wouldn’t get any diseases.
