“Southern Gothic” Novel: “ Gothic ” refers to lit in the s which may include… the supernatural unusual phenomena horror and romance strong art/architectural references strong emotions. “Southern Gothic” means the novel is reminiscent of a gothic novel, but has “flavors” of the American South in its setting, characters, attitudes and beliefs.
