It’s almost time to ShakeOut! 9:26am, 26 September 2012 At 9:26am we will be conducting an exercise drill. At that time we will drop, cover and hold.
Massey University encourages everyone to take part in this earthquake drill as a way of becoming better prepared to respond to an earthquake; however, participation is not compulsory. If you are not comfortable taking part in this earthquake drill for any reason, you may choose not to, and may leave the room before the drill which take place at 9.26am. About ShakeOut at Massey
It is possible that a range of events – including fire or earthquake drills – may trigger unexpectedly strong emotions in people even if they were not directly affected by the Christchurch earthquakes. These reactions are a completely normal response to an abnormal event! Do you and your family or flatmates have a household emergency plan? Do you have supply of emergency food and survival items? Have you agreed on a place to meet if you couldn’t contact anyone by phone, or other methods? Have you agreed who would pick up your kids from school (if applicable)? Do you have pets and have you considered how to look after them in an emergency? Now consider what you would do next
