PLT’s: Next Steps Sigonella MHS Vision: To develop lifelong learners, leaders, and global citizens.

Objectives Reviewing the purpose of PLT’s What are the “right things” that a PLT should do if high levels of learning are the focus of their collaborative efforts? Develop team SMART goals(s) and action plans.

Professional Learning Teams A group of people working interdependently to achieve a common goal for which members are held mutually accountable. Learning by Doing - DuFour, DuFour, Eaker, & Many, 2006, p. 219

What are the “right things” that a PLT should do to improve student learning? What things are the PLTs in the video doing? What things are the PLTs in the video focusing on?

What are the “right things” that a PLT should do to improve student learning? Use results to motivate students Create and implement a systematic intervention plan Identify gaps or overlaps in curriculum Engage in a collective inquiry Identify “power” standards – get crystal clear on what students should learn Create and implement a student learning monitoring plan

Develop team SMART goals(s) and action plans. As you develop goals(s) and plans, consider the four critical questions of PLTs – What do we want our students to learn? – How will we know if each student has learned? – How will we respond when some students do not learn? – How can we extend and enrich the learning for students who have demonstrated proficiency?

What are the “right things” that a PLT should do to improve student learning? Share the next steps your PLT is considering.
