Miss Barnes’ Science Class 2010

 With the friends at your table you will work together to do the following: ◦ Observe the buttons in the baggie at your table. ◦ Based on size, color, shape, etc. see how you can classify the buttons into different groups. ◦ Divide the buttons into groups and be ready to share your group results with the class.

 There are 5 kingdoms, or groups, in which living things can be classified. These kingdoms are: ◦ Protists ◦ Monerans ◦ Fungi ◦ Plants ◦ Animals Let’s learn more about these kingdoms!

 Go to the board and look for your name on a post-it note labeled with the different kingdoms.  This will be your assigned group.  You and your group will be responsible for using the Science Book to research information on your kingdom.  You will present your kingdom to the class.  As groups present, you will fill out a flipbook on the different kingdoms. Be ready to take notes!

 What is the name of my kingdom?  What are the characteristics of the kingdom?  What are some examples of living things that belong to the kingdom?  What makes the kingdom like or different from the other kingdoms?
