WP15 (Geological information and modelling) Technical implementation François ROBIDA

WP 15: Geological information and modeling Participants : BRGM (lead), UU-SE, GFZ, GEUS, GSI, ISPRA Geosurveys’ Data : (i) geological maps at different scales and detail; (ii) stratigraphic borehole data (including samples and cores, analyses, hydrogeological information); (iii) geohazard databases and inventories (e.g. landslides, surface faulting, etc.); (iv) catalogue of geological models (3D and 4D) Scientific Drilling Data : access to scientific drilling project (ICDP/IODP) and core archives Scientific Subsurface Data : (i) access to 3D and 4D scientific subsurface data, encompassing structural and numerical models (e.g., temperature, aquifers, and velocity models); (ii) access to associated raw data (e.g., drill hole data; (iii) procedures for and documentation of data provenance; (iv) contribution to vocabularies and ontologies to support data integration and retrieval

WP15 TCS Implementation – TNA (if applicable) 4/4 Involved InfrastructuresType (e.g. experimental, analytical, analogue modeling, paleomagnetic labs, observatories) CountryLevel of involvement (e.g. ready now; ready by M24) NA Please answer to the followings: (1)Do you have an official agreed roadmap among institutions/countries? if yes, which kind of agreement (e.g. MoU)? if not, how will you deal with TNA? (2) Data and data products created in the frame of TNA will be accessible trough EPOS? if yes, How? (3) How will you manage the TNA, through a e-infrastructure? if yes, did you start the e-infrastructure design? if yes, which are its main features?

What is the current awareness within the community ? A strong involvement in the development of international standards based on OGC since 2003 – IUGS/CGI – OGC Joint group to develop GeoSciML and (data model + vocabularies) – Lead of INSPIRE geology data specifications (based on GeoSciML) Use of IGSN metadata for samples by some partners

What is the current awareness within the community ? Collaboration framework in place since >15 years within EuroGeoSurveys Implementation of metadata and web services (WMS + WFS) – OneGeology (worldwide) – OneGeology-Europe (multilingual semantic interop) – Inspire EGDI (European Geologicial Data Infrastructure ) – An initiative of EuroGeoSurveys to produce pan-European data sets

Examples OneGeologyEurope; Surface geology of Europe in 1:1 mil. Using distributed architecture, including ISO19115 metadata and WMS/ WFS (GeoSciML) services PanGeo; Ground instability assessment of major European cities using PSI data from satellite in combination with in situ data Mineral deposits; Compiled and harmonised through a number of projects (ProMine, EuroGeoSources, Minerals4EU) using distributed architectures, ISO, OGC and CGI standards EMODnet-geology; Marine substrate map. Currently in 1: 1 million, but aiming for 1: covering all European waters GEMAS; geochemical mapping of agricultural and grazing land soils of Europe

To be further developed Revision extension of data models and vocabularies – Boreholes (ie supporting ICDP/IODP datasets – harmonization with DIS) – Geophysics – 3D models Development of «generic» serives (with cookbooks) to facilitate implementation by geological surveys and research institutes Generic viewer for borehole data
