IMMUNE SYSTEM By: Asia Williams & Trevonta Gibbens

I.  The Immune System includes structures like, white blood cells, thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, and lymph vessels.

A. WHITE BLOOD CELLS  1. Leukocytes(WBC’s)  2. Thrombocytes(platelets)  3.Granulocytes(containing large granules in the cytoplasm)  4. A Granulocytes(without granules)  5. Lymphocytes(consisting of B cells and basophils)and monocytes.

B. THYMUS  1. The Thymus is a specialized organ of the Immune System.

C. SPLEEN  1. The spleen functions as part of the Immune System and contributes to the production and storage of the Circulatory System.

D. LYMPH NODES  1. Lymph nodes work like filters to remove germs that could get you sick.

E. LYMPH VESSELS  1. Lymph vessels transport fatty acids and glycerol as well as excess tissue fluids.

II.  How specifically does the immune system work? 1.The Immune System defends the body from attack by invaders recurring.

III.  What is relationship of the Immune System and other body systems? 1.With circulatory system allows the immune cells to travel throughout the body and survey for infection.

IV.  What medical problems that can be associated with the body system? 1. Allergies, Asthma, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Murmurs and etc.
