Become a Qualified Teacher

Initial Teacher Training Programmes Further Education Teachers with Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status are now recognised as qualified to teach in schools. This will allow them to be appointed to permanent posts in State Maintained Schools in England or Wales and they will be paid on the Qualified Teachers’ Pay Scale.

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is designed for those already in a full teaching role or intending to enter the profession so they can achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The qualification is appropriate for teachers, tutors, and trainers who may be working within a School, Academy, Sixth Form College or in the Independent Sector/Free Schools or an FE College, Adult & Community Learning Centre, Learning Provider and for those delivering work based training e.g. within voluntary, community & private & public organisations. The aim of the diploma is to provide candidates in full teaching role with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills needed to effectively fulfil their teaching role and to claim Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification which extends into investigation and research into current practice, theories and models relating to education and training. Throughout the programme, candidates will demonstrate their ability to transfer the findings of their research into their own practice.

LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING The aim of the diploma is to provide candidates in full teaching role with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills needed to effectively fulfil their teaching role and to claim Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

WHO IS IT FOR? The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is for Pre-service or In-service Teachers, and is aimed at candidates who:  are deemed to be in a Full Teaching role or  would like or require a full Level 5 qualification allowing them to Teach or  are seeking career progression within their area of work and  have access to a minimum 100 teaching practice hours (whether pre -service or in -service)  teach on both a one-to-one and group basis for a variety of learners, across a range of levels.

HOW WE DELIVER OUR TRAINING  You are allocated a mentor who will support you throughout the course and be available to answer any questions.  The course is delivered through face to face and also coursework consisting of reading, questions, assignments and activities.  Each module is covering a different aspect of the course and includes activities.  At the end of each unit there are specified assignments to complete, which are marked and internally moderated.  You will also need to keep a Reflective Amount / Log of 100 hours teaching, 8 of which will be observed in your workplace.  There is a requirement for a minimum of 100 hours teaching/training practice and a minimum of eight teaching/training practice observations
