Structure Our programme structure similar to many but the dissertation with the initial 10 credit preparatory module may be different. This module requires tasks to be undertaken that help prepare the students to do a practical project – as well as preparing a suitable ethical protocol. 10/01/2016 Julie Anderson - University of Plymouth 3

Attendance and participation The classic model is ten, usually evening sessions of up to three hours in length on campus or other SW venues Taught and independent study modules available usually more at a distance with occasional meetings.

On site group working on school, college or academy premises becoming increasingly popular – often spread over academic year

Focus on the school based work We have always offered to come into schools and work with suitably sized groups of teachers and TAs What is developing is the that the schools, college and academies are using this to create a more developed research culture among their staff 10/01/2016 8

Second celebratory event co run between the university and local college The event later this month aims to share the impact to date of these Research Communities and the power of Action Research in today’s classrooms at two Colleges Local schools being invited. He will talk on the significance of high quality research, both in terms of the impact on children and the wider impact on the profession. Followed by Shared Practice Workshops—Run by staff from both his and the host college on the research in their own classrooms. 10/01/
