The Instrument Rating - “Flying in the Clouds”

Why get an Instrument Rating? To fly in Instrument Meterological Conditions (IMC) or under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) To fly for hire > 50 miles & at night To fly above 18,000 feet.

Obtaining your Instrument Rating Must have at least 50 hours cross-country PIC Obtain 40 hours of simulated or actual instrument time with: – 15 hours dual – One 250 NM cross- country under IFR – Up to 20 hours in an FAA approved simulator Knowledge Test Practical Test
