Learn how to create a quiz in Socrative and play along with one that someone else has made. Understand how Evernote can be used by students to share their work with you. Know how to use Padlet for a quick evaluation, feedback or brain-storm.

Communication, Collaboration & Participation Entry – I can manage my school account effectively. – I know how to set up an account with an online service (for example, Skype, Twitter or YouTube). Core – I am able to use technology to communicate and collaborate with my peers, for example; using ; using track changes in documents. – I can use web based tools with my learners to support group discussion and collaboration, for example, discussion boards/forums, blogs.I can support my learners to present their group work electronically, for example through a presentation or video. Developer – I support my learners in using a range of digital and online collaborative tools and approaches for both small and large group planning, organisation and work. – I understand data protection issues as they relates to using web based environments and services with my learners. – I am confident in using video conferencing (for example, Skype), social media or social networking sites to support learning and teaching when appropriate. – I use collaborative, multi user tools to support planning, discussion and resource development, for example, wikis and collaborative document services. School staff digital literacy framework – Communication, Collaboration & Participation levels from Fraser, J., Atkins, L., and Hall, R. What is SharePoint? Outlook ( ) Calendar People (address book) Newsfeed OneDrive Sites

OneDrive Personal document storage (like the N: drive) 25GB of space! – (Microsoft announced it will soon increase to 1000 GB) Can create and edit files in a browser window No need to have office installed, so anyone can make and edit files Files can even be edited on a tablet! Sharing!

Newsfeed Social media tool Great for sharing quickly, including rich media Users choose what to listen to A lot like Twitter or Facebook status updates

Activity 1 In SharePoint, go to Newsfeed - search for #digilit “Follow” this hashtag Now every time someone includes the #digilit hashtag in their posts, it will appear in your newsfeed. Try it!

Activity 2 – Maths Starter Participation - shared MS Word Document The answer is 42…

Activity 3 Lets create a PowerPoint together -

Sharing Documents – More Ideas Brainstorming Collaborative creative writing projects Fill in the blanks Problem solving activities Allows students to gather ideas, data, and information while working in a collaborative environment Students working together to solve a problem Vocabulary practice – one student writes the word and the other writes the definition

Activity 4 Create a shared document that you can use with one of your classes Tips – Smaller teams may work better – create several copies and divide class into groups. – Turn on “Track Changes” to ensure full participation and avoid sabotage. – Prevent “cursor wars” by Giving each student a space they can type into Giving each contributor a different role – fact finder/ideas creator, punctuation/grammar checker, embellisher, etc. Giving each student their own section – introduction, conclusion, first paragraph etc.

Activity 5 - Socrative Socrative– lets try out a QUIZ! On the iPad, find the Socrative Student App Enter number: and “Join Room” Student

Activity 6 Making a Socrative Quiz On the iPad, open the Socrative Teacher App: Log in (you may need to register first) Notice your Room number – you will need to give this to students so they can join your room Select “Manage Quizes” Select “Create a Quiz” Make an awesome interactive quiz! Lets play Teacher

Evernote is awesome – It stores everything! Typed notes Hand-written notes Photos Audio clips Web-clips – Everything is searchable – Its platform agnostic – use it on macs, iPads, PC, your phone – Students can share their notebooks With peers – collaborate! With teachers – feedback!

Evernote Exercise Books This student is part of the BYOD trial and has his own iPad that he brings to school each day. He has been photographing his exercise book every time he finishes a page and storing it with Evernote. Because it can store photos, typed notes, pdfs, webclips and audio files, he can keep his whole learning experience together in one place. He has shared this notebook with the subject teacher, who is able to view it any time, and create their own notes to give feedback. If the teacher takes the book in, the student still has a copy. In fact, he always has all his notes from all his subjects, all in one place! Awesome!

Activity 7 Sign up for an Evernote account and log in Create a notebook Add a note Try adding a photo or an audio clip Share it with someone else in the group

Activity 8 - Feedback Use Padlet to share your thoughts, favourite activity or idea from today’s training session.

Next steps? Fill out your evaluation Deliver the activities you have made today to your classes. Keep developing your skills! Book out those iPads!
