Army Test & Evaluation Command Mission to Capability Trace Mission-Task decomposition provides the test planner with a powerful tool to design the best test plan possible. It stems from user validated scenarios, missions and tasks --providing the framework for evaluating demonstrated FCS system and SoS capabilities Missions to accomplish comprise Tasks to perform DOTLPF * Materiel as supplied by provides Capabilities enabled by Mission to task is the same approach as warfighter planning- generates materiel needed for training products User explaining how capabilities enable tasks is valuable insight to the acquisition community Knowing what materiel is the source of the capabilities helps with test design efficiency Do not have to prove materiel’s ability to enable every task; once a capability is proven know tasks are enabled and materiel properly contributes to mission success Knowing standards to which tasks must be accomplished assists in driving appropriate performance requirements to ensure materiel provides capabilities in an operationally realistic environment Answers the “So What?” Question * Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel, Facilities
