About Mission Buenaventura On March 31, 1782, Father Junipero Serra founded Mission Bueneventura. It is located east of US Highway 101 in Ventura. It was the ninth mission founded by Junipero Serra.

What I think about this mission: I think that Mission Bueneventura is a very good mission. Actually, it rocks! I think that if you studied this mission, too, you would think that it was nice.

Any damage? Yes, there was damage that was done to the mission but it was also fixed. The Indians had tried to burn it down, but they fixed it afterward. The mission was also damaged by an earthquake but was also fixed.

Who lived at the mission? Spanish settlers lived there along with some of the Indians that lived there. Some of the Indians liked it there while others did not. Some of the Indians even tried to burn down the mission.

What grew at the mission? All kinds of foods grew at the mission. Vegetables like corn grew there.
