Front Office Panic Alarm Awareness Training

The front office “Panic Alarm” switch is located under the counter. It looks like this: To turn on, put your finger in it like a “Pulse Ox” and pull down on the lever. To turn off, push the lever back into position.

The audible alarm box is located near the crew beanery, above the threshold headed toward the BC office. Take note: The alarm is very loud. Hover on the speaker icon to hear the distinct sound.

FRONT DESK PANIC ALARM PROCEDURE Goal – if front desk panic alarm sounds: 1) 1) Activate ) 2) Staff responds to front immediately to assist front desk personnel. 3) 3) Ensure responding staff are not involved in ambush situation. Response Plan - if front desk panic alarm sounds: 1) 1) Front desk staff activates panic alarm, and dials 911 if able (even if only having the open line). 2) 2) Staff in building responds to front Admin area. Responding staff: a. a. Call 911 (“This is Station 11, our front desk panic alarm is going off, unknown reason, we are responding.”). b. b. Respond in pairs, if possible. c. c. At least one person responds with portable radio. d. d. Observe before directly approaching, listen before rounding corner. Approach from different sides of hallway. What you should do when you hear this alarm..
