FUN FRUIT FACTS Which Fruit Is Grown In Every State in The United States? It’s also grown in every province of Canada. Here’s another hint. We like to eat it when it’s bright red. The answer is strawberries! Legend has it that after picking the fruit it was customary to string them on glass straws. The berries were then sold “by the straw.” American Indians were already eating strawberries when the Colonists arrived. They blended crushed berries with cornmeal to make strawberry bread. The Colonists developed their own version. It is what we now enjoy as strawberry shortcake! Here are some more fun strawberry facts! The strawberry is the only fruit with seeds on the outside! There is a museum in Belgium devoted entirely to strawberries. A small bowl of strawberries will provide a day’s worth of Vitamin C for kids. On average, a strawberry has 200 seeds! California produces more strawberries than any other state. Florida comes in second. Strawberries are the first fruit to ripen in the spring.
