Since our last meeting in September 2008: Key deliverables have been achieved UN Member States and other stakeholders, especially within the UNECE region, showed increasingly intense focus and engagement in support of UN/CEFACT activities, including the Executive Committee Experts and elected officials from around the world worked especially hard in volunteering their skills and time to meet critically important deadlines and this teamwork deserves special recognition by the Plenary

The 13th UN/CEFACT Forum The Saly Forum was hosted by the government of Senegal. The Minister of Budget, Mr Mamadou Abdoulaye Sow opened the Forum 150 participants from Africa, Asia, Europe & North America A National Forum on eBusiness was held in Dakar for Senegalese government & regional business officials The meetings highlighted the importance of global standards in international trade, in general, & in Africa, in particular

The 14th UN/CEFACT Forum The Forum was hosted by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development & the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade The Under-Secretary for Trade, Mr Adolfo Urso, opened the Forum. Over 200 participants from all regions attended the Forum. A seminar on “The Role of Trade Facilitation: Promoting Market Integration with a Focus on Africa” was held in parallel to the Forum. Participants included the EU Development Commissioner, Italian Minister for Economic Development, WTO, & OECD.

15th UN/CEFACT Forum Sapporo, Japan 28 September - 2 October 2009

The 15th UN/CEFACT Forum The Forum was organized by Japan Association for Simplification of International Trade procedures (JASTPRO) and the UN/CEFACT Japan Committee (JEC), under the auspices of: The Ministries of Finance (Customs Bureau) - Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry - Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transportation - The Hokkaido Government and the City of Sapporo. The Director-General of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation, Mr Katsuyuki Ozaki and the Mayor of Sapporo, Mr Fumio Ueda opened the Forum. Over 180 participants from all regions attended the Forum. JASTPRO organized a seminar on “UN/CEFACT Standards & Recommendations” in parallel to the Forum which was attended by some 100 local attendees. A particular emphasis was placed on UN/CEFACT’s standards for agriculture which was very important for the economy of Hokkaido.

9th November 2009Geneva 32 TBG’s Mandate The purpose of the TBG is to be responsible for the simplification of international trade procedures, business and governmental process analysis, and best practices, using the UN/CEFACT Modeling Methodology, where appropriate, to support the development of trade facilitation & e- Business standards.

9th November 2009Geneva 35 TBG1-Supply Chain & eProcurement TBG1-Supply Chain & eProcurement Purpose Supply chain and e-Procurement covers the Purchasing, Material Management and Payment areas Programme of Work The Cross Industry Invoice (CII) version 2.0 has been published Collaboration with TBG6 on developing the “Cross Industry Catalogue”, included in CCL09B Collaboration with TBG18 on developing the “Despatch Advice”, included in CCL09B Development of “Ordering” and “eMarket Research” messages, included in CCL09B Another suite of messages is planned to be included in the CCL10A which cover “Quotation” (in collaboration with TBG6), “Remittance Advice”, and “Scheduling”.

9th November 2009Geneva 36 TBG3-Transportation and Logistics TBG3-Transportation and Logistics Purpose Develop the eBusiness standards for Logistics planning and Transport. This covers operational movements of goods, administrative and governmental requirements and safety and security of freight movements. Programme of Work Development priority for individual Projects/Business Requirements Specifications (BRSs):  Status Request / Report, Transport Instructions, Dangerous Goods Declaration, Multimodal Waybill for transports Collaboration on Version 3.0 guidelines of the International Transportation Implementation Guidelines Group (ITIGG) for transport messages for both EDIFACT & XML Collaboration with Customs TBG4 / WCO and other users’ groups, specifically GS1 and IATA

9th November 2009Geneva 37 TBG4-Customs Purpose Collaborate with World Customs Organisation (WCO) covering Business to Government (B2G), Government to Government (G2G) and Business to Business (B2B) requirements in cross border transactions. Programme of Work Government Cross Border Regulatory (GOVCBR) EDIFACT message finalized during Sapporo forum and published Contributed to Recommendation 34 Initiated submission of Core Components to TBG17, BIEs to follow Collaborated with TBG3 on transport messages  IMO Marine Safety DMR’s  Multimodal Dangerous Goods Requirements

9th November 2009Geneva 38 TBG5-Finance Purpose Be responsible within the financial services area for the simplification of international trade procedures, business and governmental process analysis, and optimization of information exchange standards. Programme of Work Inclusion of Customer Credit Transfer semantics in CC Library marks the successful first presence of finance in UN/CEFACT. Global financial strategy to promote ISO as financial standard TBG5 continues to actively participate in cross-domain projects The key objective right now is on e-invoicing and integration to the financial payment chain.

9th November 2009Geneva 39 TBG6-Architecture, Engineering & Construction TBG6-Architecture, Engineering & Construction Purpose Responsible to coordinate and propose new developments and maintenance in the area of Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry (AEC). Programme of Work Continued refinement of eTendering and Project Schedule and Cost Performance Management standards. Joint projects with TBG1  eCatalog (will be part of D09B)  Contract Financial Execution Management (CFEM). Continued development of Security in Messages and Documents. Work with TBG19 on the gap analysis between eNotification and eTendering

9th November 2009Geneva 40 TBG8-Insurance Purpose Functional area of insurance business including policy production, placement, claims, risk management. It covers also domestic and international environments, insurance and reinsurance, single company policies and co-insurance. Programme of Work Project work developed through Global Insurance Standards (ACORD), the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) and eBES Expert Group Seven Data elements for insurance related information for Contract, Party and Coverage as well as business areas of claims, life insurance, health insurance and automotive insurance are included in CCL09B.

9th November 2009Geneva 41 TBG9-Travel, Tourism & Leisure TBG9-Travel, Tourism & Leisure Purpose To support and promote international business activities related to the exchange of travel industry data. Programme of Work First set of schemas for requesting and receiving information on small-scale lodging published in D.07A. Small Scale Lodging Travel Product Information has been included in D.09A The third part of the project, which deals with the reservation of the products has been initiated Discussion on travel-related activities in the Republic of Korea to harmonize with the UN/CEFACT Forum procedures has started. TBG9 will also review the data maintenance requests (DMR) code requests, etc

9th November 2009Geneva 42 TBG12-Accounting & Audit TBG12-Accounting & Audit Purpose Develop e-Business standards for Accounting and Audit domains. It covers specific accounting matters as well as regulatory obligations requiring business to file multiple questionnaires, returns, declaration forms and reporting towards private and governmental collectors. Programme of Work Achieved: Accounting Token (for Invoice), Accounting Entry Message; 4 Messages on the final ODP step: Chart Of Accounts Message, Ledger Message, Reporting Message, Accounting Message; BRS preparation in progress for 2 Messages: Trial Balance, Journal; Insertion of “Accounting Token”: collaboration with TBG1, TBG6; Joint project TBG18 “Cooperative Farms” Financial Reporting. New project: Bundle Collection with TBG6 & 19.

9th November 2009Geneva 43 TBG13-Environmental Purpose To support and promote both international and regional cooperation activities related to environmental data exchange. Programme of Work Meeting the information process requirements under the Basel Convention on Control of Transboundary Movements of Waste (TMW): 172 Parties, G2G, B2G; TMW Business Information Entity/Core Component submission approved, and published within CCL 09A; Plans to work on TMW-related waste-assessment data.

9th November 2009Geneva 44 TBG14-Business Process Analysis TBG14-Business Process Analysis Purpose Responsible for defining the International Supply Chain model to present the various processes and parties involved within the international supply chain in a simplified way. Programme of Work Project P059 “International Supply Chain Reference Model” delivered version 2008A (May 2008) and 2009A (July 2009) of the Buy-Ship-Pay Model (aka “International Supply Chain Reference Model” (ISCM)) and the related Modelling Guidelines.  The latest achievements since the 2008A version are Catalogue, Waste Transport, Customs, Despatch and Receive Goods, Scheduling and Remittance Advice. TBG14 will harmonize business processes Working with TBG15 on the “International Trade Facilitation Model“

Completed Recommendation 35 establishing a legal framework for the efficient and effective operation of Single Window Continued work on Recommendation 34 on the Data Simplification and Standardization, Completed revision of the Annex to Recommendation 6 (Aligned Invoice Layout-Key for International Trade) Established review team for revision of Recommendations 12 (Measures to Facilitate Maritime Transport Documents Procedures) and 14 (Authentication of Trade Documents by Means Other than Signature) Project Team of the Trade Facilitation Implementation Guide Work with TBG14 on International Trade Facilitation Model Initiated new recommendation for Consultation, based on Recommendation 4 Initiated new recommendation for Public Private Partnerships
