Novels/Vocabulary Books Because most of the reading is done outside of class, each student will need their own personal copy of all the novels that we read for this class. Teachers will have a class set of all the novels, but they must remain in the classroom. Each student will need a personal copy of the Vocabulary Workbook Level G. These can be purchased from your teacher during class for $11. You must have exact change or a check.

Grading Assignments are divided into 2 sections: Each assignment is worth 100 pts. 40% daily/quiz All grades are averaged together 60% test/ composition within the category. Some bonus will be available. All major tests are worth 100 points. Students will write several major compositions during the year, usually one per 6 weeks. 1.Each composition is worth 100 points. 2.The penalty for late compositions is –10 pts. for each day up to 3 days late. After 3 days late, a grade of ZERO will be given. 3.All compositions must be typed, double-spaced, total word count printed at the end, and it must be submitted to turnitin.com

Grading continued Pop homework checks, pop quizzes, and other daily grades are worth 100pts each. Some minor work will be counted multiple times. Late work will be accepted ONE day late for a grade no higher than a 70. 2 Tests each 6 weeks will be open for retesting. The grades will be averaged. Certain requirements must be met to be able to retest and will be discussed with your teacher in class. Some extra credit may be available for students. Teachers will discuss these opportunities in class.

Make up Work Makeup work is the student’s responsibility. There will be a makeup calendar in the classroom and/or on the teacher’s website listing all work completed for every day. Students will have 1 day for each day absent to make up a test and/or homework. Tests will be made up either before or after school, not during class. This makeup will be arranged conveniently between the student and your teacher.

Classroom Rules Be prompt. Students must be on time to class and turn in all work by the deadline. Be prepared. Students must be prepared for class. No one will be allowed to return to the locker.
