Presentation transcript:

Essay As part of your final exam, you will create an essay about the three most important characteristics of a successful and effective college student – what does it look like/sound like/feel like, and what you will do to embody these characteristics for the rest of your high school career. For at least ONE of the traits, include how studying Latin can help you improve or embody that trait. If you need a separate paragraph about how Latin helps, you may include a fourth body paragraph.

Structure Five or six paragraphs: introduction trait one (and how you will embody) trait two trait three (how studying Latin can help) conclusion

Steps Each step will be turned in, reviewed, and resubmitted to you for improvements until it is approved and you can move on to the next step. Pre-1: Research and choose the traits you will explain. 1. outline 2. draft 1 (handwritten on paper) 3. corrected handwritten draft 4. typed draft 5. final typed draft – DUE on finals day (may turn in early)

How will this be graded? Each step will be graded (which means this is worth a total of 5 grades, and will also be part of your final exam grade which is 20% of your semester average) 5 grades: outline draft 1 (handwritten on paper) corrected handwritten draft (may need to return more than once) typed draft final typed draft – DUE on finals day (may turn in early)

Essay So, ask yourself, what do you think are the three most important characteristics of a successful and effective college student? What does an effective college student do on a regular basis that makes them successful? What things do effective college students do and say? What you will do to embody these characteristics for the rest of your high school career? There are many traits of successful college students – you will pick the ones you think are the MOST important for students to develop.

TODAY On a sheet of paper, create an outline which will list your three chosen traits, an example of what each one looks like in action, and an example of what each one looks like when you exemplify it.
