WHAT DO YOU THINK? Do you like keeping up with the fast pace changing fashion styles? What might affect you ability to keep up with fashion? How might these answers be different for different people?

WHAT IS FASHION A particular style that is popular at a given time. Current fashion is anything that is considered “IN” Fashion can include clothes, hairstyle, home decorations, and even food What are some current fashion styles?

FASHION TERMS Style -Jeans are a style of pants -A-line, straight, and circular are all styles of skirts Classic -Blazer jackets -Polo shirts Fad -“Here today and gone tomorrow” -Platform shoes, mini skirts baggy pants Avant-garde -Ahead of fashion -Extremes Retro -Old is new again -Repapering styles

FASHION CYCLES Introduction stage -Fashion is born and worn for the first time -Introduced by models and celebrities Growth stage -People gradually accept the new fashion Maturity stage -Many people were and accept the new fashion Decline stage - People grow tired of the fashion and sales begin to decline

FASHION SWINGS Basic styles of clothes and accessories often stay the same but many details change according to fashion Skirts lengths go up and down, jackets change, pant shapes change Fashions that swing back and forth many times are considered “yo-yo”
