“Law is simply class rule. The ‘ruling class’ controls the formation of law. –used for maximizing ruling class interests in society and controlling working classes.” (Pg 81) Karl Marx Who: German University student of law, history and philosophy Karl Marx ( ) Where: England When: The collaboration with Frederick Engels was in 1848 (Communist Manifesto) What: Based on his observations he developed the theory in law (Marxism) that was developed from studies of economic and social patterns. It was based on the belief that socialism is established as society leaps forward, and everyone has plenty of personal possessions, but no one is able to exploit others for their own benefits. Reformism was built upon this concept, also known as social democracy that supported WWI. Marxian ecomomics, law of value, mode of production, productive forves, surplus labour, surplus value, wage labour and Marxian economics are all ideas based on economics through the Marxist theory. Impact: introduced social hierarchyhierarchy -made capitalism desirable -Heightened the interest in studies of economics and socialism

Pros and Cons of Marxism AdvantagesDisadvantages -Everyone is equal, and of the same social class -Non-oppressive to workers who work long hours and have low salary’s whose companies exploit them -People cant be their own leaders -There is only one leader therefore you must rely on them to make all decisions for you greater good -The system must have no corruption whatsoever to work properly Feminist Jurisprudence Gives women equal rights.
