On the screen you can see a few areas that we cover. Can you name two technological advances that helped the great planes? Did you think of Barbed wire, steel plows, windmills and the railroads. Where was the largest automobile industry? Detroit If someone asked you about the Southwest states would you think of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico or Arizona Did you know that Langston Hughes was a Poet during the Harlem Renaissance? About 60% of the class time is spent doing lab experiments. We learn about natural science which includes plants and animal cells as well as various ecosystems.,genes and DNA. Fir this coming school year your students will be asked some questions like, As scientists how do we determine if something is living? can you identify the parts of the cell? where do genes come from? how does DNA affect you? Most 7th graders take Math 7 or Math 7 Honors both of these courses prepare you for Algebra 1. The Math 7 honors curriculum is the same as taking Math 8 honors. There is a select number of students who take Algebra 1 Honors (those decisions will be made in the summer) In math this year you will study the following areas: Number and Number Sense Computation and Estimation Geometry and Measurement Probability and Statistics Patterns, Functions, and Algebra Most 7th graders will be prepared to take Algebra 1 in 8th grade.
