Efficient implementation of the European Commission's technical assistance programs should contribute to the strengthening bilateral mutual understanding between Uzbekistan and EU

ABOUT NCU NCU started its activities in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Establishment of the National Coordinating Unit of the European Union’s Technical Assistance Programs in Uzbekistan” № 29 dated

is coordinating and ensuring the effective implementation of European Commission's technical assistance programs in Uzbekistan. The main task of the NCU

* informing through mass media or by direct appeal to potential beneficiaries on the goals of the projects and programs of technical assistance, as well as on the conditions of receiving funding from the European Commission; * submitting to the European Commission formal requests for project financing and technical assistance programs. The main functions of the NCU are:

* Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On establishment of the National Coordinating Unit of the European Union’s technical assistance programs in Uzbekistan”; * Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On coordination of activities of national institutions in ensuring implementation of European Commission's technical assistance programs in the Republic of Uzbekistan” (the adoption of a new legal act is being considered now in light of abolition of the TACIS Program). REGULATIONS

Nowadays in Uzbekistan European Commission's technical assistance programs are being implemented in such areas as: * Energy (energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable energy development, energy saving); * Social sectors (maternal and child health, social partnership and civil society); * Education; * Rule of law; * Economy (management trainings); * Ecology; * Security (nuclear and biological safety, border management, drug action); * Rural development.

* Customs clearances of goods delivered within the EU technical assistance projects; * Visa issues; * Facilitating activities of local and European experts; * Registration of foreign experts. In the framework of implementation of technical assistance programs, NCU provides with following supports:
