Major Academic Plan (MAP) Why study Film? The EWU Film program prepares students for creative work in the motion picture and television industry. The coursework provides intensive experience in production and writing, as well as media theory and criticism. Facilities and Projects Film students have access to a variety of electronic media facilities, including radio and TV studios, electronic field production units, and audio and video editing suites. The campus proximity to Spokane provides a wide range of internship opportunities. The senior year in the Film program requires the writing of a classically-structured, feature-length screenplay and the successful completion of a senior film or senior thesis. Acceptance to the Major The program sequence may only be started in a Fall quarter. The program takes 6 quarters to complete, but students may elect to take it over 9 quarters by taking the junior-level criticism sequence a year early. Transfer students with a DTA from a Washington community college are eligible to start the program in a Fall quarter.
