Welcome to the Bill of Rights!

Our rights are relative, not absolute!

Though listed in the Bill of Rights, our rights are clarified through case law, or legal precedents: The decision in one case serves as a guide for similar cases.

Freedom of expression.

1 st Amendment: Freedom of Speech (Expression) Free Exercise of Religion Separation of Church and State Right to Petition Right to Assemble

“I’m applying for the pre-school job you posted.”

Who is to say what beauty is?

Obscenity? Inciting violence?

Right to assemble, petition.

Free Exercise of religion?

2 nd Amendment: Because we need a well-organized militia, people have the right to keep and bear arms.

Right to bear arms.

The 2 nd Amendment ain’t about hunting!

3 rd Amendment: No quartering of troops except in wartime and according to the law.

4th Amendment: Protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.

5 th Amendment: No double-jeopary Right against self-incrimination Due Process

6 th Amendment: Trial by jury Right to counsel Speedy and public trials Right to confront witnesses
