The RFC Editor and the IESG agree that such inflation of author lists is wrong on both practical and policy grounds. It is not the “IETF way”. This is not a vanity press, for either individuals or corporations. If there are many contributors, the person(s) who primarily wrote the spec should be the authors, marked as “editor(s)”. The contributors can be listed in an Acknowledgment section.
