Revision Timetables Learning Objective: To plan a revision timetable using the learning from this unit.

Planning a Revision Timetable During this lesson, you are going to put together everything you have learned about effective revision to create a revision timetable. Base your timetable on the Easter Holidays when you will have two weeks to revise at home. Remember you may be attending extra revision classes during this time so you may want to leave some space free.

Planning a Revision Timetable Before you start planning your timetable, think about the following: Where are you going to revise? How long are you going to spend on each subject per day? Think about the percentage of the exam, which subject you find the most difficult etc. What are you going to do in your breaks? How are you going to treat yourself? What food/drink are you going to have to boost your brainpower? What methods of revision are you going to use? E.g. Mind maps, past papers? How much time are you going to allow for going over previous revision? Get students to make notes in their books on these questions before they start. You may like to discuss them as a class so students can share their ideas before they get started.

Helpful Websites The websites get revising (www.getrevising.co.uk ) and exam time (www.examtime.com) both allow you to create a revision timetable online. They also allow you to create flash cards, mind maps and see the revision resources other students have made. If you have booked a computer room/laptops, students can use these websites to create a revision timetable. Excel is also a useful for creating timetables. If students finish early, they can look at the resources the websites have to offer, e.g. Creating quizzes etc.

Revision Timetable Template Remember to try to incorporate a much as you can about what you have learnt about effective revision over the last couple of lessons. If you have not managed to book ICT equipment, students can use the paper templates to help them. They are double sided, one being a more detailed one day timetable and the other being a week overview. Students can use this or create their own. Encourage them to draft in pencil first, then start adding colour once they are happy with it. If students finish early they could plan a week of revision based on being at school and only having time in the evenings.
