Why Our Students’ Needs? As we consider “Brent 2020: Reaching All Students,” meeting our students’ needs more effectively is important because…

Why Our Students’ Needs? …we have a moral obligation to do so.

Why Our Students’ Needs? …we have a moral obligation to do so. …we have a persistent achievement gap at Brent (28% in F & P at 2015 EOY)

What Are We Carrying Forward? “Productive struggle” – “Everyone is expected to struggle during the learning process”

Strategic Plan Revisited Strategic Plan: Brent 2020 Brent will become a highly effective, inclusive, field experience school where all students grow and advance through productive struggles and a whole-child approach that promotes academic, social, and emotional development in order to produce confident, self-reliant, and self- motivated students ready for any opportunity.

How Do We Reach All Students? Meeting our Students’ Needs More Effectively & Closing the Achievement Gap at Brent (The New & Improved model) Brent Students Tier ITier IITier III “Brain Block” Teacher Partners Behavior Support Team SpEd 6 th Grade Math Field Experiences

How Do We Reach All Students? Field Experiences – Created to provide students more consistent and more meaningful field experiences – Goal is to have 4-5 meaningful, well planned experiences that are deeply rooted in curriculum – Staff member coordinating efforts (Ms. Farkas)

How Do We Reach All Students? “Brain” Block – Created in order to provide K-2 students more consistent (daily) small- group intervention and enrichment support – K-2 students, working towards our Brent 2020 goal of “all students on grade-level by the end of 2 nd grade” – “All” hands on deck (ECE teachers, IC, SpEd teachers, etc) – Staff member coordinating efforts (Ms. Patterson)

How Do We Reach All Students? Teacher Partners – Created in order to provide 3 rd -5 th grade students more consistent (daily) small-group intervention and enrichment support – Staff member coordinating efforts (Ms. Byrns)

How Do We Reach All Students? Behavior Support Team – Created to provide students and teachers more consistent (daily) behavior support – Behavior Tech, social worker, school psychologist – Behavior tech Is on recess duty everyday!! – All three will work with students in formal and informal ways (lunch bunch, recess, therapy sessions, etc).
