Whiting Refinery 2 Facts & Figures Operations began 1889 Currently 6 th Largest Refinery in the U.S. Located in the Cities of Whiting, East Chicago and Hammond 1,400 Acres 1,850 BP Employees 2,000 -3,000 contractors 430,000 Bd crude throughput Production Gasoline: 9 million gallons / day Low Sulphur Diesel Fuel: 4.5 millions gallons/day Jet Fuel: 1.5 million gallons/day Other: 4million gallons/day xylene, propylene, propane 5% of U.S. asphalt production

Whiting Refinery 3 Whiting Refinery Modernization Project Construction began in 2007 / Completed 2013 Construction of four new major units while the refinery was operating Take advantage of new sources of Canadian Crude from Alberta Province During construction, 10,000 skilled workers logged over 40 million hours (26months without a lost time injury requiring a day away from work) Project Figures 1,200 pieces of major equipment constructed and imported to NW IN from the Gulf Coast and overseas 1,700 miles of cable and wire, 380 miles of pipe, 150,000 cubic yards of concrete 52,000 tons of steel & 20,000 crane lifts Refinery improvements Inherently safer designs than older units, automated coker operations Fire and gas detection and warning systems with automated deluge capability
