. Perhaps the most important thing for an individual is their health. Just over a quarter of adults were classified as obese in Obesity can lead to serious chronic diseases and to premature death. But with all the energy saving devices that are available to use, this is slowly producing an unhealthy nation. Around three in ten boys and girls were classed as either overweight or obese.

. Human health is affected by a range of factors: agrochemicals Health can be affected by inherited conditions, as well as disease and even how disease is treated. So if we are to change the nation from an unhealthy one to a healthy one we must understand how human health can be improved. exercise drug use noise Certain medical treatments can also have risks. diet smoking pollution

. Medical treatments have many benefits, but there can be risks as well, eg Even x-rays used in diagnosing illness and injuries have some risks. But if we can understand the risks and the benefits we can build our confidence in new medical treatments. Drugs can have side effects. Surgery will have associated risks.

If we live in a healthy environment then we are more likely to be healthy ourselves. So we need to measure the environmental effects of human activity and check what we are doing to our ecosystems. But in our drive for more and more energy are we affecting the environment we live in?
