Sunday School Task #1 Reach People for Christ & Church Membership

Observations for Effective Outreach 1. Effective outreach will not develop without the intentional efforts and emphasis by your leadership. 2. Sunday School Task #2 Teach People God’s Word: – To Win the Lost – Develop the Saved In other words the Sunday School at Travis Avenue Baptist Church is the fundamental strategy for leading people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and building Great Commission Christians.

Sunday School Task #3 Minister to People Ministry takes place when God’s divine resources touch human needs through loving channels to the glory of God. Ministry Touches (7 Touches of Travis Handout)

Adult Department Director 1. Set a positive example by helping build and create an atmosphere of spiritual transformation in your class. 2. Lead in planning and administering the total work of the class. 3. Meet regularly with teachers for prayer, planning, and making assignments related to evangelism and outreach, fellowship, ministry, and Bible teaching.

Adult Department Director 4. Evaluate needs related to space, budget, Bible study curriculum, supplies, and other resources; and recommend actions related to needs. 5. Maintain attendance records and other participant information that strengthens the group’s pursuit of the overall objectives of Sunday School. 6. Serve as a greeter/host for the department.

9 Reasons We Need Care Groups 1. To place people in a comfort zone. 2. To enhance member interaction. 3. To develop relationships. 4. To develop intimacy. 5. To assimilate new members.

Reasons We Need Care Groups 6. To follow up on visitors. 7. To provide a caring ministry. 8. To contact absentees. 9. To hold each other accountable.

Sunday Morning Schedule Fellowship Time (10 minutes) Announcements (5 minutes) Outreach Discussion/Testimonies/Emphasis (10 minutes) Bible Study (35 minutes) Care Group Time (10 minutes)

Our job will be complete when we have discipled the people in our classes to the point that they understand the purpose in their own service and then seek a place to minister.

When Do You Start New Classes? 1. Is it the right time of the year? 2. Have we reached a saturation point? 3. Does a class leader know every person by name? 4. Have we developed new leaders for the class? 5. Have we discovered new prospects for the new class?

5 Barriers To Starting New Classes 1. The focus of the class is turned inward. 2. An unwillingness to pay the price. 3. Inappropriate leadership. 4. Possessing a hiker’s attitude rather than a trailblazer’s attitude. 5. Over-attachment to one teacher, one class or room.

What Now? Get your organization set as soon as possible! Make sure your leaders attend training: – Care Group Leaders – February 10 at 4:00 p.m. – Outreach Leaders – February 10 at 6:00 p.m. Begin praying with your leaders about what God would have you do in the next 12 months!

Enlistment Guidelines 1. Submit the names of prospective workers to Chad’s office. 2. Enlist only workers who will be responsible to you. 3. Be positive, clear and optimistic! 4. Avoid exerting pressure, trust God with the decision. 5. Give them time to pray about your request.
