ART CLASS

6 TH AND 8 TH GRADE -50 MINUTES OF ART 2X PER WEEK. 7 TH GRADE- 50 MINUTES OF ART 1X PER WEEK

CURRICULUM/ CONTENT Each Year we build on what we learned in the years before. Students are exposed to different mediums such as: Crayons, pencil, pastels, colored pencils, markers, glue, construction paper, paints, glass or tile, metal, clay, yarn, ink, etc. In middle school, some of the skills we learn/build on are proportion, perspective, shading, collage, scratch art, critique, analyzing, color theory, the elements and principles of art, art history, design principles, carving, printing, weaving, mixed medium, etc.

GRADES Art projects are graded on: Following Directions Creativity Craftsmanship Effort NOT ABILITY All projects must be turned in by the due date, put in the basket, with names and sections on them to receive full credit. Late projects -10pts!

SKETCHBOOKS OR A FOLDER WITH PLAIN PAPER MAY BE USED AS A SKETCHBOOK. SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS MAY BE USED AS EXTRA CREDIT EACH MARKING PERIOD. Extra Credit !

GLENOLDEN STUDENT ART SHOW MAY 25 TH 6:30-8PM WITH LIVE MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT!

ART CLUB! Art club for 6 th -8 th grade will run from October through January. We meet on scheduled days after school from 3-3:45. Permission slips will be available next week for interested students to sign up for individual workshops. Elementary Art Club starts in February for 3 rd -5 th graders.
