MATERIAS AND METHODS  Used PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect to cover the period to November  The keywords used included: cancer research, Egypt, and all names of the public universities including Tanta university.  Abstracts focused on Tanta University were analyzed for the names of the colleges involved, the number of authors, departments, and the cancer type.  Any abstracts published by any institute in Tanta rather than Tanta university was excluded.

Conclusion Tanta University is ranked number 4 in the Egyptian universities in cancer research. Tanta University comes after Cairo, Alexanderia, Mansoura, and Ain Shams Universities. Faculty of Medicine is at the top of Colleges at Tanta University that are engaged in cancer research followed by Faculty of Science. Colon, Leukemia and bladder cancers are the most common cancers that have been investigated at Tanta University. Clinical pathology, Otolaryngology, and Clinical Oncology at Faculty of Medicine and Zoology Department at Faculty of Science are the top departments engaged in cancer research.
