Getting to Know Mrs. Patti  I was born in Brooklyn and lived here my whole life.  I went to Stony Brook University and majored in environmental science and marine biology. I received my masters degree in education from Brooklyn College.  In March 2015, I got married. Some students (maybe your siblings or friends) will call me by my old name, that’s okay!  This is my sixth year teaching at KECSS. I have taught 6 th, 7 th, 8 th grade science as well as High School classes.

My Interests Science! Photography My Family and Pets (I have two kittens) Animals and Nature Traveling Playing Volleyball

My Goals To teach you how to create and conduct experiments. To create a supportive, respectful and safe learning environment. To help you achieve your personal best and discover how science can not only be education but also fun.

Introduction to 6 th Grade Social Studies

Class Expectations Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have certain guidelines to help us get along with each other. Some of you have already learned a little about the KECSS Honor Code during summer bridge. The Honor Code will be strictly observed in our classroom! Tomorrow we will work more on classroom rules.

Expectations: I expect all my students to work to the best of their ability. You will achieve success in science if you: 1. Always try your best. 2. Follow school and classroom rules. 3. Complete your homework and projects on time. I will do my best to help you learn, If you are ever confused or need help, just ask!

Homework You will receive homework assignments every week If you are absent, you must contact another student for the missed assignment or look it up on our class website. The class website is My school address is Remember, homework is given to help you better understand or practice what is happening in our class.

Grades We will use the following grading policy: Exams: 25% Quizzes: 15% Class Work/ Class Participation/ Notebook: 25% Homework 15% Projects/Labs: 25%

Activity Time! Student Survey! Now that you know all about me and this class, it is time for me to learn about you. Please take your time, be honest and try to be detailed in your responses on the student survey. Spelling and grammar won’t count against you on this assignment. I simply ask that you try your best to complete the activity before class ends, if you need more time you may finish it for homework and bring it back tomorrow!
