COMMUNICATION MEANS SHARING EXPERIENCE PUBLICLY FOR THE COMMON GOOD PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED BY EVERYONE SO THAT THEY CAN: 1.Contribute to the common good. 2.Survive and ever get ahead within the society

Four key elements in speech transaction 1.Communicative purpose -to entertain, call attention, and to persuade 2. Knowledge of subject and communicative skills 3. Speaker’s attitude toward self, listeners and subject 4. Degree of credibility

THE MESSAGE In all speech communication transactions, the message the speaker transmits is made up of the same three variables : Content, structure, and style. Content : Ideas, facts and figures. Includes your feelings about those ideas, interpretations and beliefs. Structure : provide a pattern in order to guide the audience Style : Selecting and arranging words, as well as revealing ourselves to be a certain sort of person, are matters of style
