LABORATORY SAFETY GUIDELINES 1. Wear safety goggles at all time. 2. Wear closed-toed shoes, not sandals 3. Tie back long hair to prevent it from coming in contact with chemicals or flames
4. Report any injury to your laboratory instructor immediately 5. Do not eat or drink in the laboratory 6. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace. Clean up spills at once or ask for assistance in doing so
7. Do not perform unauthorized experiments 8. Do not taste any chemicals or directly breath any chemical vapor 9. Check all chemical labels for both name and concentration
10. Do not grasp recently heated glassware, clamps, or ring stands because they remain hot for quite a while 11. Discard all excess reagents or products in the proper waste containers 12. If your skin comes in contact with a chemical, rinse under cold water for at least 15 minutes
13. Do not work with flammable solvents near an open flame 14. Assume any chemical is hazardous if you are unsure.
