Thanksgiving!
Where did it all start? Thanksgiving, in, Canada goes back to 1578 when a European explorer named Martian Frobisher landed on the shores of Newfoundland. Frobisher held formal ceremony to thank God for a safe journey across the Atlantic. This is considered the first thanksgiving in North America
A Harvest Festival First Nations groups have always celebrated after the harvest. In 1957 the Canadian government made it a statutory holiday saying: “ A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed … to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October”
