Coliseum Architecture By: Ethan R

History The Coliseum was built around 1,920 years ago in Rome, Italy. The reason for building this Coliseum was to entertain the public will free games. They main purpose was to fight. People would fight people and people would fight animals. The designer of the Coliseum is unknown.

Storeys and Entrances There are 80 entrances to the Coliseum. There are four storeys to the building. The upper storey is for women and lower classes. The lower storey is for the upper class. Below the ground are cages for animals.

The Coliseum covers 6 acres of land. The shape of the Coliseum is oval especially when you look from above. It is 50 meters high= 12 storey buildings. 189 meters long. 156 meters wide. Measurements

Style The styles of the architecture are ancient roman, classical, doric, ionic, and Corinthian columns.

Ruins The southern side of the Coliseum fell in a earthquake in the year 847.
