History Guillaume-Benjamin-Amand-Duchenne discovered muscular dystrophy in the 1860’s in France. He built a “portable electrical device” used to view muscles in response to health and disease. According to dictionary.com, Muscular Dystrophy is, “a hereditary disease characterized by gradual wasting of the muscles with replacement by scar tissue and fat, sometimes also affecting the heart.” Commonly referred to as “Duchenne De Boulogne”
