Welcome to Mrs. Fredericks’ 7 th grade Science Class! Contact info: Office hours: Tuesdays room 219 from 2:30 – 3:30 pm

Materials 1 inch binder Loose leaf paper Pens and pencils

Units of Study for Life Science Scientific processes and method Body systems: Digestive, circulatory, and respiratory Cell structure and organization Heredity and Reproduction Evolution and Diversity Ecology

Homework Homework will be assigned at least once a week and will be posted on the board. Homework assignments should be written in the Student Planner. (Teacher will initial planner) Assignments must include the proper heading. All answers to questions must be complete and in full sentences to receive credit. If a child is struggling with a problem they should mark it with a question mark and be prepared to go over it in class the next day. Homework will NOT be accepted for credit after the due date except in the case of absence.

Exams (Unit Tests or Common Assessments) Tests will be announced well in advance. There will be a review and a study guide provided in advance. All answers must be complete and in full sentences to receive credit. If a student is absent the day of a test he or she is expected to make-up the test on the very next day.

Grades Tests and Quizzes Total :  (about 33%) Class Participation: Projects, Do Nows, Class work, and Exit Tickets:  (about 33%) Homework:  (about 33%) Mrs. Fredericks will give quizzes in between major tests.

First Five Minutes Procedures Before sitting quietly with your binder out, sharpen pencils. Write down homework in planner within 2 minutes. Complete DO NOW within 5 minutes. Place any homework on your desk. Await further instructions quietly.

Classroom Consequences 1 st infraction – verbal reminder 2 nd infraction – last out & rewrite expectation 3 rd infraction – Parent phone call or 4 th infraction – Lunch/Teacher detention and plan sheet 5 th infraction – Teachers choice: 10 minute time out office referral Severe offense – trip to office or guidance

Rewards/Raffles Get 1 raffle ticket for: In seat quietly when bell rings with binder out Do now complete within first 5 minutes Homework in planner within first 2 minutes * All 3 must be met to receive ticket! * Whole team gets a second ticket if all members are done in 5 minutes! Earn tickets for participation, politeness, helping other students, etc…….
