Unit content Click the image to Access the unit information

Lesson 1 There is a lot of information that we will need to absorb and demonstrate to successfully complete this unit. This lesson introduces the basic rules of photographing images. We will be using our class set of digital cameras with the camera on auto. This way we can get comfortable with capturing an image then uploading to our computers. It This lesson demonstrates how to frame an image using basic concepts that have been an artists’ rule for centuries. At the end of lesson 1 you will be required to upload an example of each of the rules to a web based photo storage site and paste the link to the student wiki page. Lesson addresses criteria 1.1, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6

Task 1 I would like you to view this online tutorial which will help demonstrate a professional view on taking great images (20 minutes) Click here to watch Adobe TV’s hints here The Adobe website is a great resource for all creative units we will be studying in Digital Technologies I encourage you to take notes or keep a copy of the URL for revision. Task 3 Now it’s time to take out our cameras and commence our photoshoot on rules of photography and framing. Each class member is required to capture one (1) image that demonstrates each rule. As a class we will walk around campus area to caputure these images (Time – 1 hr)

Task 4 As this Unit’s outcome is to capture digital images with a client based scenario I would like you to create a folder on your computer titled for each lesson for this unit (10 lessons in total) – eg lesson 1, lesson 2 etc. Upload your images to LESSON 1 FOLDER. At this stage we are not going to edit any photos. A really good way to gauge your success at this unit is to look at your work at the beginning of your studies, then again at the end of the unit. If you have more than one image for one rule just remember we will only need one of each example for this exercise. (30 Minutes)

Task 5 Scenario – You are a local photographer and you have just been contacted by a client who would like to see some of your image gallery. The client would like you to send the images electronically. Problem…We know with digital photography that some of the images may be too big to send via so the client can access the internet and view your files using a image host. To address the clients needs you will create an account on a web image host called yogile. URL is 222.yogile.com (30 Minutes)

Task 6 Create a Yogile account and load your images. Here are full instructions on how to create your account. (30 Minutes)
