IF If you only have1 printed copy instead of 2, PUT YOUR 1 PRINTED COPY ON THE TABLE (90%) If you have your essay on a usb drive, but not printed, PUT YOUR USB DRIVE IN THE BOWL ON THE TABLE (85%) If you haven’t finished your 2 nd draft, pick up the laptop that matches your desk number and start typing. (1%) If you haven’t finished your rough draft, “SHAME ON YOU. FINISH WRITING YOUR ROUGH DRAFT. (0%) If you have 2 printed copies, BRAVO!!, YOU EARNED AN “A” (100%) Take time to number the lines along the left edge of the paper. If you have to access your 2 nd draft online ( or cloud), but not printed, LOG ON TO ONE OF THE COMPUTERS BY THE DOOR & PRINT IT. (85%)

THE PLAN….. Staple & submit your hand written rough drafts. Take out 2 of your 2 nd draft. Scores taken for 2 nd drafts copies. Initial Self Revision Peer editing Read through the feedback Write the needed changes on the paper. Bring a digital copy of your essay On a flash drive Sent in an to yourself Retrieved from a cloud. Revise your LIP + Simple thesis to a LIP+ Complete thesis. Check the format (MLA) Complete revisions, correct any mistakes. Save your 3 rd draft to the HAND IN folder or print it using the classroom computers TOMORROW’S PLANTODAY’S PLAN

Before another writer goes through your essay please check your essay for the following: 1.Read through your essay and circle the words “you” “yours” or “you’re” If they are part of a quote, it is fine. If they are not part of a quote, it will need to be fixed. 2.Count your paragraphs. You should have 5. If you have fewer than 5, mark where you need to add a paragraph. 3.Do you use the character’s name in the claim sentences? You must use the character’s name in the claim sentence before you can use pronouns. 4.Are your sentences different lengths (short: 3-8 words; medium: 9-20 words, & long: 20+ words)? Writing sentences which are all mostly the same length makes for a lack of rhythm.

PEER EDIT EXERCISE You will need 2 copies of your 2 nd draft. 2 PEER EDIT SHEETS 2 PEER EDIT T-CHARTS A pen Highlighters - If your name is not on your 2 nd draft, write your name at the top. Write your name on your peer edit sheets and peer edit t-charts. Exchange an essay + edit sheets + t-charts with 2 other peers.

PEER EDIT EXERCISE Step 1: read the essay Step 2: highlight the LIP + SIMPLE THESIS BLUE OR PURPLE Step 3: highlight the claim sentence green. Step 4: read all the way through the peer edit sheet before you begin. Step 5: complete the peer edit sheet. Provide THOUGHTFUL feedback to the writer in your answers. Step 6: staple the completed Peer Edit Sheet and Peer T-chart to the back of the writer’s 2 nd draft copy and return it to the writer. RETURN TO YOUR DESK AND REPEAT STEPS 1-6 FOR THE 2 ND ESSAY YOU RECEIVED.

READ THROUGH THE EDIT SHEET. DID THE EDITOR ANSWER “NO” WHERE YOU HOPED FOR A “YES” ? WHAT WAS THE FEEDBACK? DOES THE T-CHART HE/SHE CREATED MATCH WHAT YOU THOUGHT YOU WROTE? WRITE YOUR CORRECTIONS & REVISIONS ON YOUR DRAFT. WE WILL TYPE IN MINOR CHANGES TOMORROW IN CLASS. IF YOU HAVE SOME MAJOR CHANGES TO MAKE, DO IT TONIGHT AS HOMEWORK.

TOMORROW YOU MUST BRING: YOUR ESSAY IN A DIGITAL FORM YOUR 2 ND DRAFT COPIES W/ PEER EDIT SHEET PEER T-CHART REVISE YOUR ESSAY, CREATING A FINAL DRAFT, USING THE LAP TOP SUBMIT THE 2 ND DRAFT COPIES WITH PEER EDIT/T-CHARTS: 40 POINTS SUBMIT A DIGITAL COPY OF YOUR FINAL DRAFT TO THE “HAND IN” FOLDER: 200 POINTS TOMORROW’S PLAN
